theBobcast is an over the top podcast brought to you from Studio A in Minneapolis. Hosts Bob1, Bob2 and Box – all Minnesota natives – discuss the news, sports and local scene with an authentic and charming delivery. Each show has its own unique flavor, literally, as during every show a different beer is consumed throughout the recording. The combination of outlandish humor and alcoholic consumption lead to an extraordinarily original podcast that doesn’t just entertain, but leaves you eager for more.
History
theBobcast came from a simple idea Box had – Box thought, after years of hilarious conversation w/ friends, that this humor should be shared with the world in a podcast form. Box mentioned the idea to the Bob’s, not expecting much. He never imagined they would actually pursue it as they did; they quickly assembled equipment, got a website and created a studio. With two Bob’s on board, the name of the show came easily to Box – theBobcast - a combination of ‘the Bob’s’ and ‘podcast’.
The ‘Cast began doing ‘practice’ recordings in Studio A around April ‘09 and by the end of the month they had full, hour-long, episodes available for download on their newly created ‘thebobcast.net’. Originally episodes were recorded on Sunday and Wednesday nights. Segments became staples of the show, such as, Beer ‘o’ the Week, What’s in your Queue?, Bob1’s Beef, Bob2’s Bitchin’ and Box’ Banter. Soon after, theBobcast was available for download on iTunes and began reaching out to social networking sites as well, which are all updated regularly and ran by members of the ‘Cast.
Guests began to appear on theBobcast often – musicians, dancers, singers – and would do an interview for the show Every episode has a series of pictures taken and available on theBobcast facebook page within days of recording. With the more going on, Intern Joe was brought in to help. theBobcast Nation – a video series of the ‘Cast doing whatever random things – was launched in late August ‘09 on youtube, The ‘Cast usually records a Bobcast Nation video along with every episode.
Today
theBobcast is still as busy as ever, recording now on Monday and Thursday nights, with guests still making regular appearances. New segments have been added, parodies have been created, and hilarity has ensued. theBobcast’s latest excitement, is the launch of their new website layout in the end of ‘09.
