Their special guest for their May 11th meeting was Detective D. W. Miller and his one year old yellow Labrador Retriever, Nyland. Don’t let Nyland’s loveable face fool you. When it’s time to work Nyland gets serious. Nyland’s skills in sniffing out Electronic Storage Devices (ESD) are used in a wide variety of cases including child sexual abuse, child exploitation, child pornography, and human trafficking just to name a few. And Nyland takes his job seriously. Nyland has already assisted with executing search warrants, not only for the Parkersburg Police Department, but also for other departments in West Virginia where his skills can be put to good use.
